A family picture can be misleading. The moment captured on camera might make it seem as if the family is happy. But in reality, the family might be wracked with strife and tension.
The Lord’s Supper should not be a misleading picture of the church. 1 Corinthians 11:17-34 shows us that the meal we share at the Lord’s table is a picture of the sacrificial love and death of Jesus that has united us together in Christ. When we take communion together it should be a snapshot into the life of the church. The same sacrificial love of Jesus we remember in that meal, should be reflected every day in the way we treat one another.
